FAQs
How does it work?
The audio tours in these pages are
identical to those found in museums and institutions around the world. Instead
of using the museum’s dedicated handset, you can use your own personal MP3
player or multimedia mobile phone to listen to the tour on site, on the train or
in the comfort of your own home.
How do you download the tour?
Simply click on the button marked
“Download Tour” and your internet browser will let you download the file to your
computer’s hard drive.
If the tour is paid for, follow the step by step
instructions to use our secure payment system. Once the transaction has been
processed, the tour will automatically download. If you experience problems
during the payment process please visit
http://www.kagi.com and follow the online instructions.
Once the tour has downloaded simply double-click on the
folder to extract the files. If they do not extract automatically, you may need
to use an unzipping programme such as WinZip (http://www.winzip.com)
You can then transfer the files to your media player or
phone following the manufacturer’s instructions (note: simply placing the
unzipped folder onto your device will not work).
Will the tours work on my MP3 player?
The tours are all encoded in the MP3 format, a file type
that can be played on any MP3 player and many mobile phones. It is not in a
format specific to any one device.
How much space will it take up on my MP3 player?
Each tour will differ, depending on its length, however a
3 minute track typically takes up 1-2MB.
How long will the download take?
This will depend on the speed that you are connected to
the internet and the size of the tour you are downloading.
Are the tours available in other
languages?
Many tours are available in a variety of languages: look
for the flags located just above the tour’s title to download a different
version.
Can I put the tour on a CD instead?
Yes, providing you have the software available to do this.
Programs such as iTunes, WinAmp or Nero are able to do this however you should
refer to their manuals for a full guide on how to burn a CD of the tour.
What do I need to do to listen to the audio through my
computer?
Double click on any of the audio files, once they have
downloaded to your computer. Don’t forget to check that your speakers are on!
