The Reopening of the Historic Green Vaults
in Dresden - Historic wonders for your eyes and innovative technology for your
ears (Dresden)
–
The Historic Green Vaults will be the first of the 12 museums operated by the
State Collections to introduce a new
educational concept. Each visitor will receive an Acoustiguide audio tour, to be
included in the ticket price.
This will provide a selection of fascinating information on the treasures to all
visitors.
The tour will be available in nine languages: German, English, Russian, French,
Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech and Japanese.
Equally
engaging and educational, the audio guide
gives a lively insight into
the
artistic and scientific secrets of the magnificent exhibits.
Visitors will be privy to a wealth of insights about the Green Vaults. They will
be told about the background to the
elaborate restoration work and
the
ever-changing history of the castle.
The audio guide also
highlights the connections
between the individual rooms and comments on the
universal art approach
of the Green Vaults, which combines splendid architecture with stunning
craftsmanship. There is much to be discovered: For example, in the Jewellery
Room one can admire a long, beautiful string
of
pearls.
Remarkably, the pearls were obtained from a river in Saxony, as rare an
occurrence then as it is now.
