Meeting of the Minds for Matisse Picasso at MoMA QNS
Audio Tour Features Unscripted Conversation Between
Two Curators, Kirk Varnedoe and John Elderfield, on Two 20th Century Masters

The Acoustiguide audio program for Matisse Picasso, the blockbuster exhibition drawing record crowds to The Museum of Modern Art, Queens, lets visitors listen in on a fascinating, unscripted conversation between two widely regarded curators speaking about two 20th-century masters. The exhibition runs through May 19, 2003 at MoMA QNS.

Acoustiguide's 30-minute tour covers 12 pairs of works and offers insights into the dynamic relationship between Matisse and Picasso. As if joining a behind-the-scenes walkthrough, visitors listen to the thoughts of two of the world's leading experts commenting on these transcendent artists. The speakers are John Elderfield, MoMA's Chief Curator at Large, and Kirk Varnedoe, Professor of the History of Art at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton.

An introduction to the tour is given by MoMA Director Glenn Lowry: "We've decided to approach the remarkable creative dialogue you'll encounter in the galleries by offering a dialogue of our own - a conversation between two great experts on Matisse and Picasso, both curators of this exhibition."

The audio tour covers highlights of the exhibition including: Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Three Musicians, as well as Matisse's Piano Lesson and Portrait of Madame Matisse. The Matisse Picasso Acoustiguide audio tour at MoMA is available for $5.

Acoustiguide was also part of the successful run of Matisse Picasso at Tate Modern, London in 2002. At both locations, audio tours are offered on Acoustiguide's state-of-the-art digital players. These players are designed to be accessible to visitors of all ages and abilities while offering the highest quality sound. Acoustiguide's players allow listeners to view exhibitions at their own pace and access commentaries in any order, and even repeat them if desired.
